FOUNDATION LENS

The Foundation LENS [Lessons in Engish, Numeracy and Survival]
The programme takes the adult learner from basic literacy and numeracy up to the Grade 6 level.  Based on a pre-training test, learners are placed at one of four (4) levels and guided to advancement at their natural pace.

Upon completion of all four levels of the Basic Literacy & Numeracy Programme the learner is awarded a Certificate of Achievement.

Level 1

Non-literate

Level 2

Basic One – can identify simple words

Level 3

Basic Two – can read but poor comprehension skills

Level 4

Functionally literate - can understand and solve problems

 

Get Started
Learners can register by completing the form here and taking it into any JFLL Parish Office. Forms are also available at the Parish Office. If you need more information please complete the inquiry form at the end of the page.

Class times
Classes are available Monday to Friday during each term in 3 shifts per day.

Terms start in September, January and May

Class shifts start 8:00 am, 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm

Course Duration
The learner’s existing skills and motivation will determine how long they take in the course. The more they know and critically, the more motivated they are, the faster they will succeed.

Books
Books for the core material are covered in the cost of the programme but learners are encouraged to purchase their own books to enhance their learning

Costs
The Cost for Foundation LENS is $5000 per year
