JFLL was not alone in its efforts which were spearheaded internationally by the United Nations Education and Scientific Organisation (UNESCO) under the theme “Literacy for Peace.”
Locally the day was also marked by the Jamaica Library Service and the Ministry of Education.
The JFLL’s efforts were supported by the national media who permitted time and discussions and must be thanked publicly
